Hallo,
Was übersehe ich denn da?

My first attempt at this map didn't go very well. Then the following occurred to me:
1) Nobody else's towns are developed at first
2) Our starting town is very limited
3) Despite #2 above, we are given >100 goblins and ~30 upgraded goblins instantly
Conclusion: Week 1 rush. Walk north though the packs of fortress troops on the road (you can win) and pick the "less chosen" path just far enough to get the lion's shield of courage. The instant you do so, double back and go straight for the fortress town. They won't have anything of consequence to defend yet. Spend your resources hiring a hero here and upgrading it to a castle while you head for the northeast barb town. I was able to capture both the fortress and the NE stronghold cities before they got their week 2 troops (the castle defenses + hero hire garrison easily held their weak counter-attacks to take their town back).
In doing this, you have 3/4 of the map cut off strategically and tremendous income potential. The only faction left alive if you do it correctly is blue, and blue only has 1 town to your 3 (even if one is crappy and undeveloped so it's really 2). With a major resource advantage and more troop generating buildings it's only a matter of time until you overwhelm blue, but more likely he makes a mistake, you catch his hero in the open, and then he's > 1 week of troops behind and you can slaughter him. Grab all the stat buildings then go finish the mission.
